Participating in the design of a new product is like an ongoing “Before and After” story. As with a lot of things in life, your initial purpose and plans change and grow – meaning that what you end up with doesn’t necessarily match the functionality you originally intended. For example, PDF Transformer+ didn’t originally support the ability to add digital signatures to PDFs. Now a key feature, signatures were actually included much later in the process.
Another unplanned technology – we named it Precise Scan – was integrated into the software at a very late stage of product development. It helps clean up scanned PDF images, making them more suitable for OCR and viewing. In a nutshell, it works by enlarging a scanned image to twice its original size, vectorizing it, smoothing edges and removing visual noise. It then returns the image to its original size, making the scan look sharper, cleaner, and more presentable.
